2nd Post - Avocado Facts

1. Avocados probably got their start in southern Mexico.
2. Avocados were grown from Mexico to Peru before Europeans arrived in the Americas.
3. The first avocados in the US were planted in Santa Barbara in 1871.
4. Once they establish themselves, avocado trees are considered hardy.
5. They need to be planted in soil that has good drainage. Hillside planting is ideal.

First Post - Why I selected Avocados

I chose avocados because they are one of my favorite foods. I like to add them to just about any sandwich. Additionally, they go so well with my favorite type of food - Mexican. I'm trying to grow an avocado tree in my backyard, and I'd like to figure out how to get it to produce fruit. Finally, I know they're really healthy for you, but I don't know why. I think I'll organize my subcategories like this:

2. Health reasons for eating avocados
3. What foods go well with avocados
4. Why are avocados so expensive at the store
